Remote Support Service
Objectives
Overview I aim to provide
the highest quality remote computer repair
service in the world.
I aim to make our Computer
Repair services affordable to as many people
globally as possible.
I aim to take steps to gain
the trust and confidence of our online customers
and thus to win their ongoing future loyalty
to us.
I aim to provide a highly
innovative service and to continuously improve
on that service.
More Than Just
words It is not enough for me to just use
terms like "highest quality remote support" or
to use words like "trust", "loyalty" and
"innovation". I will try to explain why I
believe we are justified in using these
terms; and why I believe this web site is
superior to that of the competition.
The Techie/Communications
Gap I believe that slogans and labels such as
geek, nerd, anorak, boffin and trainspotter
exist for a good reason. The word
"geek" stems from the 16th Century German word
"geek" meaning freak or simpleton.
William Shakespeare used the word geek for the
first time in the English language in his
play "Twelth Night". I have worked in
Information Technology for 19 years and I
have always felt irritated when referred to as a
geek. I my experience a true geek
is likely to have a good proportion of the
following personal attributes:
an unkempt
beard
(not me, but my office colleagues always remind
me when I get
slack
with the morning shave)
glasses or
contacts
(yes, I wear glasses but I prefer to think they
make me look
like
Clark Kent)
spots and
pimples
(a condition aggravated by poor diet (burgers
and pizza),
bad
personal hygiene and lack of sufficient physical
exercise
awkwardness
(many socially awkward teenagers and young
adults seem to
do
well in subjects that require less interactive
people skills).
Me?
I'm told I'm a good all-rounder and generally
multi-talented.
aesthetically
deficient most geeks that I
have known, both as a student and a
professional
seem wholly unable to appreciate things
unrelated to logic
and
technology. For example many of them can't
dance, sing
or
play a musical instrument. Also (perhaps
the most important
point),
a geeks written and spoken language is often
highly
underdeveloped,
limited to short acronyms, technical buzz words
and that
dreadful
??? of the modern age - text speak.
Examples are:
OMG (Oh My God), AYSOS (Are You Stupid Or
Something)
and
ASL (Age/Sex/Location?). This is the birth
of a knew
language
that threatens to stifle the lyrical, almost
musical artworks of
people
such as William Wordsworth and William
Shakespeare.
academic
brilliance
Many academically brilliant scholarly types
somehow manage
to
end up being ostracised by their peers. An
extreme example of
this
might be bullying in our schools.
Now that you have read all
that negative stuff about geeks please take a
few minutes to look at some real world
examples of techies with terrible language and
communications skills. I cannot place
hypertext links to these web pages here because
I might get penalized by the Google search
engine and get dragged down into the quagmire of
hundreds of poor quality web pages that
abound on the Internet. When is someone
going to bring out a browser that has two
modes of operation - one for all web sites and
one for just good quality web sites with
established page rank? I know that this
web site would be placed much higher up the
search engine rankings id surfers could weed out
and eliminate all the dingy and dodgy pages
out there. Just take a look at
these:
check back soon
Enough
ranting about geeks with spots. Why else
do I think this web site provides
high quality? Well the content is not
only accurate but also honest and reliable
advice. Now then, the chances are that your
personal knowledge of computing is quite low
(or you wouldn't be considering Remote
Computer Support would you?) and so to a
large extent you will have to take my word
for this. It pains me when I observe other
computer support sites offering dodgy deals
with blatantly misleading claims and
descriptions. Many of them (for example many
resellers of registry cleaning programs) have no
idea how their products work or indeed if
they are any good at all. They are only
there to make a profit and do not care about
the quality or accuracy of their software -
someone else wrote it and said it was good
and that's good enough for them. These are
little short of scams.
Some advice about Registry
Cleaners On this website I always try to
recommend the best all round solutions. I
have tried many of them (at lest 20) but
there are probably hundreds of them
available. In my experience there is no
such thing as an excellent free registry
cleaner. There may be some good ones but
I haven't found any yet. There are
claims that poor quality registry cleaners can
do more damage - particularly the free ones -
which often have disclaimers hidden in the small
print when you download them. Investing
in a top quality registry cleaner such as Max
Registry Cleaner is an important part of your
computer maintenance and an essential defence
against web nasties. The Windows
Registry is a highly complex and specialised
part of the operating system. I have
read a little about their mysterious inner
workings and believe me it is heavy going -
even for a technically literate person. My
strong advice is not to meddle with
the registry at all - let a good registry
cleaner do it all for you; keep it well oiled as
it is an important cog in your Windows
machine.
It must take vast amounts of
specialised knowledge and programming skill to
develop a world-class registry cleaner.
Why would anyone give such a product away?
Someone once said "There's no such thing as a
free lunch" and that is so true where Registry
Cleaners are concerned. Many are
peddled as being free but then when you run them
they claim to find hundreds of problems and
refuse to fix some of them unless you pay for a
license. Many free software programs
(not only registry cleaners) are programmed with
hidden pieces of code that attempt to make
alterations to your Computer and Internet usage
in order to "steer" you into spending money
elsewhere online. Some small print Terms
and Conditions (which most people never read)
contain stipulations that by downloading the
software you agree to this, that and the
other extra things. This is how the
peddlers of "free" registry cleaners hope to
pay for lunch.
I admit that at first
glance this website might look very similar in
content to several hundred others that offer
Remote Support and / or Windows computer
maintenance. I have observed that most
of the "others" are prepared to sacrifice
quality and reliability for the lure of
profits. Many do not proof read their work
which indicates sloppiness and lack of
attention to detail - do you really want to let
them loose on your comuter to fix it? In that
respect we are already innovative. I have
several innovative ideas about how best to
provide a quality remote support service to my
growing customer base. All will
be revealed in due course. You may have
also noticed that the page design of this site
is somewhat irregular. I have tried to
give it an innovative custom look and feel
and have made every effort to abstain from
adding too many "bells and whistles", flashes
and popups. I try not too cram too much into
a page for 3 good reasons...
1) The
majority of visitors to this site will have
poorly performing computers
and are probably
experiencing an abnormally slow Internet
connection. The more
graphics,
scripts and whizzbang wollops a page has -
the longer it takes to load into a
browser -
particularly if that browser already has bad
performance due to cookies and
malware.
2) Techies (or geeks if
you prefer) often make the mistake of assuming
that visitors to
their website have a clue about what they are
talking about. Their visitors will
soon become
irritated by use of jargon, intrusive popups and
hard-to-follow menu
systems. That is why
I have a giant button right at the top of my
front page labelled
"Connect Now" in red. It is the first
thing a visitor sees and it is the main thing
that they are likely
to need.
3) Notice that my web page
content is very "tightly themed". This
means that visitors to
my site are
guaranteed that everything on the site is put
there to help them with
Windows computer
problems as quickly and easily as
possible. The little advertising space
that I do have is
geared towards similar wesbistes, products and
services. I don't
think that my
visitors are going to be very impressed if on
one page of my site I offer to
fix their computer
problems and on another page I tempt them to
download a dodgy
free registry
cleaner or try to get them to download free
music, or go shopping for
clothes.
How will I win the
loyalty and trust of my online
visitors? I want all of my
visitors who become customers to feel satisfied
that they have received the best possible
service at an unbeatable price. Then they
will return when their computer next requires
a service - typically twice a year.
Alternatively I could charge them double, not
do the work properly and not give a hoot about
whether they return. I want them to
tell their friends and families how good this
website is.
The default behaviour of all
forms will be to NOT include visitors in
mailshots or newsletters. We will have a
clear Privacy Policy which will reassure
visitors that their email address or any
other personal item of data will NEVER be used
for any other reason than for its agreed and
intended purpose.
